At the core of a Miami education is a strong liberal arts curriculum and a faculty that is nationally renowned for commitment to undergraduate teaching.  As part of the vocal education, students have multiple opportunities to perform in choral works, opera, song literature, musicals, and cabaret.

Miami Opera offers students the opportunity to perform in main stage performances, opera scenes programs and Great American Songbook productions.  The voice faculty carefully selects works that contribute to the development of young singers.  Students work with professional opera directors and receive coaching in their roles from a professional vocal coach in the semester proceeding the performance .  Undergraduate and graduate students have  opportunity to assume mentored leadership positions in directing, conducting, lighting and sound design, marketing, and producing.

Miami University is ranked as one of twenty-five universities listed "strong in music" by the 2017 Fiske Guide to Colleges and is ranked second in the country for "commitment to undergraduate teaching" (2016 World News and Report).  Miami University Opera has been nationally recognized three times since 2007 by the National Opera Association for "Outstanding Collegiate Productions."

Close mentoring and collaboration is at the heart of a Miami education.  This supportive environment sets the stage for a transformational experience, preparing the young artist for the competitive market.
